How The Emergency Alert For Seniors Can Be Programmed To Meet Your Needs

The emergency alert for seniors system was an extremely useful invention, and one, even though now four decades old, that is just recently coming into very wide popularity. The technology has been around for quite awhile, although significant advancements have been made, and these alert systems are both highly reliable and incredibly simple to utilize. Programming a system to meet your needs is also quick and easy.

The emergency alert for seniors owes its efficiency to the automatic phone dialer, which is an integral component of the system. The user simply plugs a small base station into his or her existing phone connection and puts on one of the various panic buttons used to activate the alarm. These buttons come in the form of a medical alert bracelet, resembling a watchband, or as a medical necklace with pendent. These are designed to be worn at all times when the user is in or around the house. One press of the button sets the system into action.

Programming the system is as easy as plugging it into an electrical outlet, a phone connection and then turning it on. If you press the button on your first alert necklace or bracelet, the monitoring center is contacted immediately via the automatic dialer built into the base station sitting in your home. A trained emergency dispatcher will then respond to your distress signal through a speaker meant to be audible anywhere in or around your house. If unable to obtain a vocal response from the user, also audible at some distance, they will immediately send an ambulance to the address.

One other detail in programming an emergency alert for seniors system is to notify the monitoring agency of the preferred protocols to be followed in the event of an alarm activation. Some people may want their neighbor or certain family members called and notified. Others may want their doctor called if the emergency is medical in nature. For rural areas with no 911 system in place, the monitoring agency should be made aware of the direct phone numbers to police, fire and EMS.
