Everything in the world is bound to deteriorate and decline -cars, houses, furniture, equipment, your favorite chair, everything and it is just a matter of time. Wood is no exception. It will also surely decline due to many environmental factors. Fortunately, we can slow down the process of decline through effective maintenance procedures such as using an effective process of deck restoration. The use of some proven effective restoration processes can help slow down its deterioration and can even restore its original state. Identify the factors that cause wood deterioration. Identify its kryptonite. It is vulnerable to many of its enemies such as weather and time. Hot and cold weather can dramatically affect its condition and this condition could result unfavorable outcomes like warping, splitting and rotting. Mold and mildew can also weaken it. Luckily, there are effective maintenance and restoration methods with the use of restoration products that can easily be purchased and some of these quality products can work like magic. Wood deterioration can also be caused by fungal spores that weaken and eat up wood. Restoration chemicals can rid these fungal spores easily. Start cleaning it with the use of basic pressure washing. If you are still a beginner in using pressure washing, consider these simple reminders such as avoiding too much pressure but it would be best if you hire an expert to do it or else you might create further damage to it. Stain removers are a good cleaning tool as well. Avoid using chlorine bleach because it is not an effective cleaning agent unless the right amount of detergent is combined with it.
Ask the experts to do the wood restoration process for you. You are more guaranteed that it will get the kind of restoration it deserves. Not all restoration contactors add preservation techniques though and you have to make it clear to them what you want. Most of the restoration experts only provide appearance restoration. This is bad service. Good deck appearance is nothing if it?s only skin deep. Restoration contractors must offer both ?preservation and restoration. When you want to do wood restoration yourself, you must have these three finishing products ?water repellant finish, preservation product, and stains finish. Normally, the use of these products will only provide protection for up to 3 years and a regular paint job will last for up a minimum of 5 years and maximum of 10 years. Water repellant products have two major flaws - it cannot totally provide protections against water entering the tiny pores and it only provides a very short protection period. Preservation products, on the other hand, provide protection against termites, insects and decay. You do not need a preservation product anymore if it is already pressure-treated. The stains finish or products protect your deck against the harmful UV rays that can cause weakening of it many parts and prevents discoloration due to extreme heat from the sun or rain. Doing deck restoration every 3 years is worth the work and extra expense rather than replacing the whole deck itself.
